Babywearing is how we survive in the Milkshake household. We have carriers in each car and a basket full of carriers for easy access at home. When LILLEbaby offered to send us the LILLEbaby Essentials to try out I excitedly awaited its arrival.

I immediately fell in love with the grey and white chevron pattern. It’s gender neutral, fun and trendy! The cotton fabric is sturdy without feeling rough for my toddler’s sensitive skin. As with my other LILLE’s I started loosening and tightening the straps and chest clip several times. I feel it helps ‘break it in’ and helps make adjusting the carrier a breeze once it’s on. I am thrilled about the price…a LILLE for under $100?! It will make a great shower gift for all my expecting friends.

Then, it was time for a test drive! My daughter is 25 months, 32 pounds and 36” tall. I am 5’8” and 155 pounds. I found getting a snug, good fit to be quick and easy. Actually, it seems to be able to fit a little tighter than the AirFlow. The Essentials does not come with lumbar support and I think that may help with a tighter fit. The panel height of the Essentials is 15” and the height of the panel on the Complete is 17”, so I wanted to compare how each carrier fit in the front, hip and back carries.

My daughter fit very well in the 3 carrying positions, and our favorite was the hip carry. I liked that the shoulder strap stayed in place on my shoulder and did not slip towards my neck. She was very happy in the hip carry and felt very secure.

I can’t wait to gift this carrier to my friend expecting her first baby in January. She will be able to use it as soon as he is 7lbs with an infant insert all the way until 45lbs! This may help you decide which LILLEbaby carrier is right for you and your little one(s).
